General Chang’s Jeep? Not so much

This campaign season has seen a lot of whoppers, but the notion that Jeeps will shortly be made in China is a double whopper with cheese. Mitt Romney‘s stubborn insistence on continuing with that debunked claim gave the Obama team this opening:

Lesson: Check your facts, stick to established facts and apologize if you make a mistake. Otherwise, you deserve the pummeling you’ll get.

Yup, but you are a bit late on this bit o’info.

I know you condemned Harry for similar lies, but I wish you would be as pointed on them as you are on this.

This is the epitome of why Romney is not going to win this election, Mr. Sebelius.

Romney just wants to be President.

    Don’t matter what he says.

    Don’t matter if it’s true.

If he has to attack by making up stuff, he will.

Don’t matter if he has to hide his personal finances.

Don’t matter if he runs away from his time as Governor of Massachusetts.

Don’t matter if he has to disclaim his time with a predatory venture capitalist business he started.

    None of that shit matters.

The only thing that matters to him is that he wants to be President.

All that other stuff is secondary.

This is gonna kill him this coming Tuesday. Because not only is he going to get trounced here in Nevada, but it will drive him absolutely bonkers batshit crazy because he ALWAYS gets what he wants. This time it don’t work like that.

All leading polls in Nevada show it’s not in his grasp here. Even a leading pollster has predicted that Romney lost Nevada. The funny thing is that pollster is within the Romney campaign!

Buh bye, Romney. You’re toast. At least here in Nevada with Latino American voters certified to be voting two to one against you.

    Obama/Biden 2012!

People in the rust belt know cars, particularly America cars (I know it is Fiat)

Ownership and parts sourcing is global, but except for exotics and boutique cars, build them where you sell them is often the rule. A Saab convertible, owned by GM at the time, had an Australian engine, a German transmission, a convertible top put on in Ganz Austria, and finished in Trollhaugen Sweden.

Most BMW and Mercedes in the USA are built here, some sent to Europe.

I remember a Canadian Truck Company Marmon, bought Brazilian made medium duty trucks and put their brand on them, when the frames started cracking, the bought them back, ship them to Europe and on to the third world. Defective products like cars, being sent to the third world is big business. They have the legal regulatory environment that Mitt likes.

“Romney ran a TV ad saying President Obama “sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China.” Technically, that is not inaccurate. Italy’s Fiat SpA took control of Chrysler when it emerged from a government-managed bankruptcy and the company intends to build Jeeps in China.”
